Springing to Life

BAFFA Juried Satellite Exhibition at the Central Islip Federal Building Art Gallery, featuring Artist Members.  (100 Federal Plaza, Central Islip, NY)

 

Springtime brings many cheerful colors and a change in mood for many. The blooming and scents of flowers, the return of flocks of birds and other wildlife, the start of outdoor activities. It brings a sense of renewal after the cold blustery days of winter.

“Springing to Life” a multimedia, BAFFA members’ exhibition will highlight artworks that explore this theme.

EXHIBITION DATES: May 8, 2025 to July 31, 2025

RECEPTION DATE: May 8, 2025 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM (photographs will be taken by court personnel during the reception)

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: March 31, 2025 by 5:00 PM

ACCEPTANCE LETTER: Received via email, April 11, 2025

ARTWORK DROP-OFF:  April 23, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

PICK UP DATE:  August 5, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  No exceptions.

ELIGIBILITY AND CONDITIONS:

SUBMISSION DETAILS:

BAFFA membership is required to submit and can be joined HERE (www.baffa.org/support

Artists are invited to submit up to 2 pieces, but not all pieces may be accepted.

Original artworks executed by BAFFA Artist Members are eligible. Artists may submit paintings, drawings, sculptures, textiles, photographs, mixed media pieces, and digital art prints (no AI).

This is a juried exhibition, acceptance of all/any artwork submitted is not guaranteed.

Entries not prepared correctly for hanging or display will be rejected at drop-off.

All 2D artwork must be wired properly with “D” rings and picture framing wire only. No sawtooth hangers or non-picture hanging wire.

All 3D work that is not free standing must include a presentation structure. Small 3D works can be displayed in glass cabinets and will not require a pedestal.

Labels (provided below) must be attached to the back of the artwork or the bottom of the sculpture as well as the bottom right taped to the back facing front for easy identification for framed pieces.

Accepted works must be hand-delivered. No shipments will be accepted.

If an artist is unable to drop off work at the times indicated, the artist must plan for someone else to take the artwork and notify the Gallery Manager at gallerymanager@baffa.org.

All artwork must be completed at the time of submission and a clear image of completed artwork will be required on the application along with the dimensions (including frame).

No submission fee, but all artists submitting MUST be a BAFFA member. Join HERE www.baffa.org/support

COMMISSION FEE: 20% of sale (prices will not be displayed at the Court gallery; all inquiries regarding artwork will go through BAFFA).

SALE PAYMENT: Check mailed to artist within 30 days of closing of exhibition

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

The U.S. District Court, venue and BAFFA is not legally responsible for damage or loss of art. Please consider insurance for all work submitted to the show.

Images of accepted work may be used for publicity and/or invitation by the Court.

Artwork must remain hanging until the end of the exhibition. No exceptions.

Artists’ will be required to fill out two waivers – one for BAFFA at submission and one for the U.S. District Court at drop off.

The Library  has wall space of 138.5 " x 69.5". They have 6 vertical wires and each holds up to 2 pieces of art

Applicants must be a current member of the Northport Arts Coalition. A NAC membership application can be found on the website: www.northportarts.org.  This show is free, runs for two months and 100% of sales will go to the artist.  Artists will curate and hang their own artwork. A minimum of 6 to 8 pieces may be hung (suggested size 18”x20” or larger). If you wish to hang more, please contact Barbara Dias. Artwork must be appropriate for display in a public/business venue.
